A fusion of dance and poetry exploring desire as a vital driving force, marking the dance debut of the renowned Galician poet and performer alongside the Galician-Cuban dancer.

This Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, at 8:30 p.m., the Germán Coppini Hall at the Fundación SGAE in Santiago de Compostela will host the premiere of CICATRIZ, a contemporary dance performance created through the collaboration between Kirenia Danza, Artestudio, and the Galician Choreographic Center.

Directed and choreographed by Kirenia M. Acosta, the piece brings to the stage Antón Reixa’s poem of the same name: 300 verses beginning with the word “I want,” exploring desire and its impact on human life dynamics.

A particularly significant aspect of this production is that it represents the first inclusive dance co-production of the Galician Choreographic Center, while also addressing awareness around ageism. Kirenia M. Acosta’s extensive international career of over 25 years as a dancer and choreographer converges with the contemporary dance debut of the iconic and multifaceted poet Antón Reixa, who, at 67 years old and with a 65% physical disability, steps into the world of dance for the first time.
