Antón Reixa to present ‘Cicatriz’ in Buenos Aires
The contemporary dance production ‘Cicatriz’, based on Antón Reixa’s poetry collection of the same name and bringing the writer himself together on stage with Galician-Cuban choreographer and dancer Kirenia M. Acosta, will travel to Argentina this September. The piece, co-produced by Artestudio and the Centro Coreográfico Galego, has been selected to take part in the Buenos Aires International Festival (FIBA), with two performances scheduled for 19 and 20 September at the city’s Teatro San Martín.
Directed and choreographed by Kirenia M. Acosta, Cicatriz is based on Reixa’s poem of the same name, a work consisting of three hundred verses beginning with the words “I want”, in which the author explores desire and its influence on people’s lives as a driving force for reflection and empowerment in the face of age-related prejudice and discrimination.
The piece stands out for its hybrid nature, combining dance, theatre, performance, poetry, installation and music, with the aim of expanding the traditional boundaries of these disciplines to offer audiences a unique and immersive experience. As part of the Buenos Aires festival, the poetry book published by Editorial Elvira in Galician, Spanish and English will also be presented.
