Escenas do cambio, the Cidade da Cultura's festival of theatre, dance and art in action, celebrates its 10th edition from 3 to 5 May 2024. Directed by dancer and choreographer Kirenia Martínez, this anniversary is conceived as a celebration of the festival's trajectory and its transformative capacity for artists, spaces and audiences.
The programme includes thirteen proposals that challenge, in their processes and results, the limits of artistic creation. Six of the shows will also have their world premiere at the festival. Participating in this edition are the Galician artists and companies Gallaecia Ensemble Barroco, Ay, Cariño! —a brand new company formed by Cris Vilariño and Diego M. Buceta—, Mateo Feijóo, David Loira, the audiovisual duo formed by DJ Yuraq Walla and Emilio Horyaans and the dancers Clara Ferrao, Marcia Vázquez, Ana Beatriz Pérez and Raquel Ferradás.
We will also welcome the cyborg artist Moon Ribas and the acrobat Quim Girón from Catalonia; Raquel Ponce from the Canary Islands; Álvaro Murillo and Artomático between Extremadura and Madrid, and the company La intrusa from the Basque Country. In the international section, we will have the Portuguese artist António Gonçalves and the writer Pedro Eiras, and the renowned international performer and teacher Laura Aris, based in Belgium. Besides, we will witness the reunion between the Spanish dancer Andrés Corchero and the Japanese Oguri under the sky of Santiago de Compostela. And finally, in collaboration with the Phōnē project and the Centro Dramático Gallego, we will enjoy a sample of contemporary drama in three European minority languages: Ladino from South Tyrol, Yiddish spoken in Romania and Irish.
