INSTANTE GRADUAL

Each moment is two moments.

But at what moment does wood turn into stone, peat into coal, limestone into marble?

History and memory share data, time, and space.

Everything was within that historical fraction of a second, the gradual instant.

“INSTANTE GRADUAL”  is a piece that Kirenia Martínez dances on every occasion, reprogramming her body for each environmental and temporal space after 20 years of an international career in contemporary dance, wear and tear, and injuries. It's a piece that seeks to connect with the audience through universal keys, risk, honesty, and commitment to creation and execution. Dance is unique and happens for that audience in that instant.

It's a work in progress piece in constant evolution that was featured at the 2021 Galician Culture Awards. It was the Spanish guest piece in the performing arts program in the Italian city of Matera during its European Capital of Culture 2019. It was also invited to Malmö, Sweden, as part of the international Dance KID program. Recently, it performed at the National Theater of Novi Sad, Serbia, as part of the programming for the European Capital of Culture 2023.
