ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
Care is at the center today, it is visible now, but it has always been essential for sustaining life. We are vulnerable, always exposed, and we need other bodies to support us throughout our lives.
The body speaks of vulnerability, it writes it with gestures and movements, in every expression it holds. We need the care of others to keep ourselves alive together in community.
PRIMEIRO A VIDA!:
This piece is an ode to care, meaning we weave care in movement, and the bodies dance an ancient demand that calls for "First Life" or "Life Before" or "Elixir of Life," three possible translations of André Breton's verse transformed into a slogan on the old walls during the May '68 protests. Faced with exploitation, precariousness, and death brought by the pandemic, we choose to care for each other and proclaim: "First Life!"
